Landa Beach

Parque Provincial de Landa - Álava Turismo

Landa Provincial Park, covering some 40-hectares, is located north-west of the Ullíbarri-Gamboa reservoir, within the neighbourhood of Arlaban and Estación, in the municipality of Arrazua-Ubarrundia.

Its location, good accessibility whether by car, bicycle or public transport, the standard of public facilities and the characteristics of the place make it an ideal spot to spend leisure time in contact with nature and the great outdoors.

This recreational dimension has to be compatible with care of the water resource, being mindful that the main purpose of the reservoir is to supply water to the population, as well as conserving the biodiversity of the area. An outstanding landscape, the presence of water and well-kept, conserved natural surroundings are key factors when it comes to choose recreational places in nature.

That is why the Ullibarri-Gamboa reservoir has become a benchmark for recreational and sporting activities (fishing, canoeing, windsurfing, walking, etc.). The Vitoria-Gasteiz Sailing Club can be found on the banks of the reservoir. Similarly, in Landa, there is a recreational area specially equipped for bathing. The reservoir is surrounded by a special 45 kilometre long path for walking and cycling.

In addition to which, the Island of Zuaza, located in the reservoir itself, in front of the so-called Rabbit Island, is currently a recreation centre specially aimed at schoolchildren (summer camps) which has a hostel, recreation area, swimming area and jetty where you can practice nautical activities such as rowing, canoeing, wind-surfing, etc. The island is open to the general public, associations, etc. from the end of April to mid-October, except for the month of July and the first half of August when it is reserved for school summer camps.

Landa boasts a pastoral landscape with extensive well-tended green meadows in which solitary specimens of large beautiful oak or ash trees grow, alternating with pine groves, to provide sunlit areas and shaded areas along the water’s edge.

Further Information

The Park is equipped with drinking fountains, toilet buildings, areas with picnic tables and playgrounds. There is a 500 metre long strand specially prepared for bathing which, in summer, is equipped with showers, a lifeguard post and a first aid station. There are three car parks, information panel, bar-restaurant and a small bar in the Park itself.

To cycle to it from Vitoria-Gasteiz follow the Vasco Navarro green route from Vitoria-Gasteiz to Puerto de Arlaban connecting up with Landa by following the old Vasco Navarro Railway line. By exiting at Gamarra it is a 13.4 kilometre trip over a relatively hill-free comfortable road surface.

And the Ullíbarri reservoir green route also passes through Landa, making it well-linked and accessible by means of routes that are designed exclusively for walking and cycling.

There is also the option to use public transport, thanks to the Lurraldebus (line DG05) Vitoria-Gasteiz> Arrasate> Eibar.

By private vehicle, main access to Landa Provincial Park, located about 17 kilometres from Vitoria-Gasteiz, is via the A-627 Vitoria-Gasteiz-Bergara road. From Ullíbarri-Gamboa via the A-3002 and from Garaio via the A-3014.
